En un juego bastante FEO, (personalmente pienso que se debería haber suspendido, aunque sea por 1 o 2 hrs y si de plano seguía pasarlo a otro día, pero, quién manda aquí? las televisoras o los árbitros ?) Santos Laguna es empatado por los Jaguares de Chiapas, que nunca bajaron los brazos mientras que nuestros Guerreros se cansaron de fallar una y otra vez.

Parecía que el juego iba a ser fácil, en 20 minutos, el juego estaba resuelto, y aún así, Santos tuvo todo para irse hasta 3-0, pero Vuoso y benítez fallaron o de plano se les mojó demasiado la polvora, porque de plano no pudieron meter el balón nuevamente.
Todo el primer tiempo los del desierto se sintieron más cómodos -casi nadando- en la inundada cancha del Víctor Manuel Reyna y dominaron a placer a unos jaguares que más bien parecían gatos remojados, pues no sabían ni por donde los atacaban.

Sin embargo, uno viendo el 2-0 no se nos olvidaba aquel juego contra el Atlante, cuando también nos alcanzaron pero, también teníamos la esperanza de que sólo habia sido un descuido de los jugadores en aquel entonces...
oh, craso error!
Entró el Bofo, y de inmediato se sintió en la cancha, primer balon que toca y pase para Cámpora que ni tardo ni perezoso mete el gol, con la complascencia y ayuda de Becerra pues ese primer poste siempre es del portero.

Jaguares, llegaba una y otra, y otra ocasión, por un momento ese ataque mermó, y es cuando Santos contragolpeaba, teniendo Lorito el 3-1 que hubiese matado a los de Chiapas, desgraciadamente, pecaron de compañerismo, y entre que se pasaban el balon lo perdieron, dejando ir una oportunidad de oro para quitarse esa presion que los jaguares estaban haciendo sobre su marco.
Minutos después, tiro de esquina, ultimos minutos, Guzman manda un cambio, y Archundia presiona para que se realice -aún- y que Guzman le decía que esperara, el árbitro Archundia mandó ( por sus webos) que se realizara, ah!, pero no atinó a decirle al cobrador del tiro de esquina que esperara para que el recién entrado tomara alguna marca, aún y que Guzman no había autorizado que se hiciera el cambio...el resultado?

Guzman?, Johnny García?, Archundia?
que importa? nos volvieron a tumbar dos puntos que ya se tenían en la bolsa, y la oportunidad de por primera vez ganar en ese estadio.
Vuoso se veía fundido, ya no corría, era lógico el cambio ( aunque no les guste a muchos ) sin embargo siento yo que Archundia si actuó con dolo, al decirle al tirador que cobrara aún estando Santos desacomodado, pero es algo normal en este sr. ya todos sabemos que no comulga con nosotros ( ah de ser regio el wey) y pues simplemente le funcionó haber hecho eso.
Marcador final 2-2 ( eh inicio el drama de los villamelones)
No se perdió, se sumó, sabe amargo, obvio.
Muchos ya se están acostumbrando a que Santos gane todo ( o se están olvidando muy rapido de cuánto sufrimos la temporada pasada) y gritan desaforados que "quien se sienta a gusto con el empate es un conformista " já!, como que no ven que enfrente había 11 jugadores que le quieren pegar al superlíder, que tienen entre ellos a un wey que con una genialidad podía cambiar el juego y que los demás compañeros al verlo jugar así se iban a entregar para apoyarlo y sacar ese resultado.

Podrá sonar a excusa, pero Santos viene de jugar entre semana, se notaban cansados ( si a esto le añades jugar en una cancha enfangada) tienes como resultado que al menos no se perdió y sin ser totalmente culpa de Guzman como muchos quieren creer.

Estos golpes, son buenos, porque NOS HACE VER A TODOS que no somos invencibles, que tiene que haber algun momento en que Santos perderá y que no se debe hacer tanto drama ( sobre todo en los "nuevos" aficionados) y si por habernos empatado, ya están reventando al técnico, no quiero ni imaginar cuando se pierda. pfft.

"Santos acaba de igualar la mejor marca en torneos cortos que hizo el América en 19 partidos con 43 puntos, aunque las Aguilas lo hicieron en un solo torneo... Santos desde la jornada 8 del torneo anterior que ganó a Morelia y sumando todos sus juegos hasta la jornada 9 de este torneo en total contabilizan 19 juegos, con una ganancia de 43 puntos." El futbol así es, se gana, se pierde, y se empata, liguilla? no mamar, primero pensemos en quitarnos de una vez por todas el descenso, olvidarnos por completo de él, el torneo pasado se clasificó por azares del destino, en este se clasificará por lógica y lo que pase en liguilla, pues ya será otra cosa, porque TODOS SABEMOS que liguilla es un torneo totalmente diferente.

vámonos por partes y no hagan tantas olas ( ya el Santos tiene suficientes con Gomez Junco y compañía que no dejan de atacar a Paco Torres nomas porque se fué Elgabry Rangel, eso hablando de la comarca, mientras que en Monterrey, el viejo senil de Hernández Jr. no deja de joder a distancia, pobrecito, que más le queda después de ver a sus dos equipos arrastrando la cobija y ensuciando el apellido, comprendámoslo, quiere ver algo bueno en sus equipos antes de morir, pero...creo que no se le va a hacer ).

Para Santos La Copa Independencia...

Santos Laguna no quiere perder
ni los amistosos.
Anoche venció 2-0 en tiempo reglamentario al FAS de El Salvador y luego a sorbos de penaltis se bebió la Copa Independencia tras imponerse 5-4 al Marathón de Honduras.

La definición del monarca de la Copa Independencia llegó en el quinto cobro, cuando el arquero Miguel Becerra atajó el disparo del brasileño Emerson del Marathón hondureño.

Ante unos 4 mil aficionados, Santos llegó a la final tras vencer 2-0 al FAS (Futbolistas Asociados Santanecos) de El Salvador con goles de Fernando Ortiz y Agustín Herrera, ambos de cabeza y ambos en cobro a balón parado. Mientras, Marathón de Honduras se había impuesto 4-1 en ronda de penales al Marquense de Guatemala.

Cifras no oficiales hablan de un fuerte desembolso de los patrocinadores ante los 100 mil dólares que cobra Santos, 25 mil cada uno de los clubes centroamericanos y cerca de 130 mil dólares más por el alquiler del Memorial Coliseum.

Le entra a jornada rosa

Después de que la Federación Mexicana de Futbol (Femexfut) anunciara la campaña “Adorarás el Futbol como Nunca”, el Club Santos Laguna se sumó a este noble proyecto y se declaró listo para participar.

El coordinador de prensa de los Guerreros, Eliseo Lucero Jáquez, informó lo anterior y agregó que cada uno de los jugadores santistas desde Los Ángeles, California, se mostraron dispuestos y deseosos por colaborar con la Fundación CIMA y de esta manera, apoyar la lucha contra el cáncer de mama.

Comentó que con este programa, se intenta amplificar la voz de lucha contra esta enfermedad, invitando a cada mujer a la autoexploración mamaria, para la oportuna detección del cáncer comunicando el siguiente mensaje: “Únete a la batalla, el balón está en tu cancha: Auto explórate”, todo esto a través del futbol, por lo que los albiverdes en Tuxtla Gutiérrez, saldrán con este lema impregnado en una manta.

Ante tal hecho la compañía deportiva Voit, llevará a cabo la producción del balón de futbol TRIBU ROSA, balón oficial de la Femexfut con diseño con color rosa, mismo que está aprobado por la FIFA.

Este balón será utilizado en los partidos oficiales de la Primera División del balompié azteca correspondientes a las fechas 10,11,12,13 y 14 del Torneo Apertura 2007, jugando con dicho balón Santos Laguna los encuentros ante Jaguares, Pumas, Tecos, Monarcas y Atlas.

La intención de la campaña es crear conciencia en la mujer mexicana, para que esposas, madres, hijas y hermanas sepan que el cáncer de mama es curable si se detecta a tiempo, y que por lo tanto practiquen periódicamente la autoexploración.

Apretado itinerario

Una pesada agenda tendrá Santos Laguna este fin de semana, previo a su duelo de la décima jornada ante los Jaguares de Chiapas, a disputarse en el Estadio Víctor Manuel Reyna de la selva lacandona.

Los Guerreros después de su participación en la Copa Independencia en Los Ángeles, California, regresarán este día a la Comarca Lagunera, al filo de las tres de la tarde por vuelo comercial en Delta Airlines, para después entrenar en su campamento.

La práctica del viernes se celebrará en sesión matutina en el Centro de Alto Rendimiento Santa Rita, para después alrededor de las 17:00 horas, viajar en vuelo charter rumbo a Tuxtla Gutiérrez, a donde esperan arribar al filo de la tarde-noche.

Posterior al duelo ante los Jaguares, el conjunto albiverde regresará a la región el mismo sábado, programándose su arribo al Aeropuerto Internacional Francisco Sarabia de Torreón, minutos antes de la medianoche.

Causeway Lane or giving its new handle The Geoquip Stadium is a ground I’ve been looking forward to visiting, so I was pleased to finally get the opportunity the make the trip to the Gladiators home, in the company of the Heed Army for this top of the table clash (yes, top not bottom)
Football was first played in the Derbyshire town of Matlock as long ago as the late 1870’s, before making their competitive bow in 1892 as founder members of the Midland Alliance League. After the Second World War the club reformed as Matlock Town and later rejoined the newly reformed Midland League after twice finishing champions of the Central Alliance at the turn of the 1960’s, after an initial period post war in the Chesterfield & District League.
The Gladiators were champions in their first season back in the Midland League and ended the decade with a second title, for the 1969-70 season the club joined the Northern Premier League where they have played ever since, with their highest finish achieved in 1983-84 as runners-up to Barrow
The club have won many honours in cup competitions, especially in the Derbyshire Senior Cup winning seven out of eleven finals as well as success’s in the NPL cups, but their biggest triumph was lifting the FA Trophy in 1975, as the underdogs hammering favourites Scarborough 4-0 in the final at Wembley Stadium.
The club were relegated to Division One in 1996, but returned in 2004 and have made steady progress since, last season saw them lose out to Witton Albion in the play-offs after a credible 5th place finish, and this season they’ve started well, again sitting 5th with a 100% record at home, but today they were up against a team with a 100% record not only at home, but also on the road, so something had to give as the Heed Army marched into Causeway Lane to do battle with the Gladiators.
The ground itself is one of the most picturesque I’ve visited, situated at the southern eastern edge of the Peak District, right in the heart of the town centre which is great for pre-match drinking, with the turnstiles and entrance on the main street. When entering the turnstiles, to your right is the club shop and the Causeway Lane end of the ground, which looks like two separate stands bonded together, with one half having blue flip seats and the other half bench style seats with adequate standing room in front of the stand, on close inspection there’s a sign on the back wall with ‘The Cyril Harrison Stand’ scripted, as well as the name of the grounds hosts in large blue letters adoring the length of the stand.
The opposite side is the Main Stand which also has rows of blue seating and houses the players changing rooms, so the players enter the field down the middle steps from the top of the stand, while the away players enter via a separate entrance, next to a new building in the process of being constructed(new changing rooms maybe)the newly improved club house is next to the stand, with very hospitable bar staff, there was even a sign on the wall behind the bar to make us most welcome. The local cricket club resides next door behind the far goal and there’s just been a new fence rebuilt, this part of the ground was cordoned off but only has a standing lawn area, while the opposite goal has a covered terrace which runs parrallel from the goal post to the bog in the corner, with the terrace running up to an angle, getting steeper as you approach the toilets, this end gives a fabulous view of Riber Castle in the distance high up on the hill.
With both teams going well this season and the threat of (one way or the other) a winning sequence being broken, then the draw was the obvious result on the pools coupon, so that’s how it finished, a 1-1 draw which on reflection was a fair outcome. Matlock took the lead straight from the kick off when a lack of concentration in the Gateshead defence allowed Simon Barraclough to head home from a Webster cross giving the Gladiators a dream start. Gateshead had to reshuffle the pack making two substitutions after injuries to key players Gate and Bowey but finished the first half well and grabbed an equaliser when fine play by Hughes and Harwood set up Ian Robson to make it all square at the break.
The second half saw a goal line clearance and the help of the woodwork deny The Tynesiders the lead; however Matlock always looked dangerous on the break and it was from one of those raids forward that lead to a penalty on 70 minutes after a challenge from make shift centre-half Paul Thompson on Barraclough, the same man was then denied the winner from the spot after Heed keeper Peter Keen saved well, diving to his right and assuring Gateshead remain unbeaten this season.

It was a very pleasant day out in Matlock with the local residence and club officials very friendly, I was knackered by the end of the day, after being on the go from 4.20am, going into work and racing around to make the coach pick up at 10.00am, any chance of a bit shut eye on the way home was impossible with the volume turned up to 11 on the coach CD player (Cheers TC!)
Gateshead had a great travelling support, as well as the usual roll call of the Heed Army regulars, there’s also a lot of new fans, as well as the return of Private Goody or should that be ‘Low Fell Elvis’ who managed to turn a few heads as we walked through Matlock town centre on the way to the pub, there were a few ‘Suspicious Minds’ from the locals and a few seemed ‘All Shook Up’ by his appearance, but really Goody is just a Teddy Bear (or should that be Hound Dog)
So overall an enjoyable day out, with Gateshead coming away with a well earned point, plus a visit to a smashing little ground.

Ground no.146 – Causeway Lane Matchday web album(19 pictures)

When I got through the turnstiles at Causeway Lane I was greeted by Matlock supporter and ground MC John Lawton, the newest member of the 100 Football Grounds Club, squad no.69 (ooh matron!)
We swapped souvenirs as I awarded him with his 100FGC pin badge while he gave me a copy of his fabulous book ‘Gladiators On Tour and other footballing stories’ which tells of one mans passion for football as well as his pursuit of football mugs. John attended 105 games in 2006/07 as well as visiting 50 new grounds; the book chronicles his season and is put together with pictures from his travels and is all done with some great crack.
The book is priced at £6.00 with all proceeds from the book going to MTFC Supporters Club as well as 20% of the profits going to John’s favourite charity WaterAid.

El Señor De Los Anillos...

Una tarde de entrenamiento, como si hubiera sido un interescuadras fué lo que tuvo Santos laguna contra el equipo de la franja del Puebla, quien no metió ni las manos y lo único que buscaba era el final del encuentro.
Bueno, si ofreció un poco de resistencia, pero si acaso fueron unos 15, 20 minutos, después de ahí, Santos hizo lo que quiso con la franja.
En una jornada, un tanto rara, donde se suponía que estaría marcada, por el Fair Play
y fué todo lo contrario a eso, como dijeron en los programas deportivos, que alguien le hable a la FIFA y les diga que los mexicanos NO SABEN QUE ES EL FAIR PLAY.
En Atlas, bronca
En Morelia, unos simios, aventaron bengalas al campo
En Toluca, "aficionados" patearon a placer a un poli
En Aguascalientesn, amonestados y expulsados por doquier
En Monterrey, un clásico mediocre, debido...a dos equipos mediocres
( y eso que tiene que ver con el Fair Play?, ps nada, que a eso no se le puede llamar futbol, sinceramente, ah! que feo juegan los equipos piporros pero en fin asi son ellos jajaja )

Y Aqui, changos, hasta a Shrek tuvimos en las gradas...

jajajajaja quien quiera que haya sido, se la arrancó...

En fin, el espectáculo estuvo en las gradas y en el campo por los de verde, no hay mucho que analizar sinceramente, (hay que gomezjunquezco me vi ) Puebla vino y se quiso poner con Sansón a las patadas...y salió pateado, goleado y camoteado.

Así que esta semana servirá para preparar bien al equipo contra los Jaguares que vienen crecidos despúes de pegarle al Atlas en su casa.
Santos afianza el liderato general, por lo menos dos semanas, esperemos que no se relajen, que tengan en la mente que ahora sólo se esta a 1 punto de Atlas, y a 2 de Necaxa, necesitamos jalar a todos los que se puedan al descenso, para que sientan lo que uno sintió.
Mientras eso pasa, Guerreros y Potros, están en las alturas, viendo cómo se mueven los demás que se ven chiquititos desde las alturas...

La Diferencia Entre Santos y Monterrey?...

En la orgullosa "casa"rentada a los rayados 1 a 1.
Ni con Multimedios, el árbitro, y el Negro Baloy
nos pudieron quitar lo invicto.

Partido transmitido solo por SKY ( a veinte ) el cual, al parecer sólo cambió los juegos de local por los de visitantes, viendo que ahora todos quieren ver y tumbar al Superlíder del torneo.
Al puro estilo de "a finales no pasamos, pero al Santos le ganamos" los rayados de Monterrey intentaron durante toda la primera parte borrar de la cancha al conjunto lagunero, y si tuvieron sus llegadas, nadie dice que no, pero los millones usados en su refuerzo de lujo simplemente NO FUNCIONARON, al menos no contra nosotros

y sólo pudieron meter un gol FORTUITO para irse al descanso 1-0, sobra mencionar que según los comentarios del encuentro escuchados por este servidor en radio tanto Ludueña, Vuoso y Benítez estaban siendo "bien controlados" por la defensa norteña.

Para la segunda mitad, las cosas cambiaron, el taconazo dejó de escucharse en la tierra del cabrito y Santos logró emparejar los cartones en una bella jugada entre Ludueña, Benítez y el renovado Toro Vuoso que se adornó con un golazo.
De ahí en más, solo hubo un equipo en la cancha, Santos Laguna, monterrey no hallaba que hacer para detener el ataque guerrero, tan es así que recurrió al árbitro para no perder un encuentro que -si lo ganaba- le salvaba el mediocre torneo que está teniendo.

Obviamente, Piporro no entró al encuentro, pero tampoco salió el Negro Baloy ( snif! me van a acusar de racismo bah! ) el cual, se la pasó tirando patadas a diestra y siniestra y lo único que se ganó fue sólo una amarilla por parte de otro mediocre el árbitro Oliver Enrique Quiroz que bien merecer irse a pitar partidos llaneros por su nefasta actuación en este juego.
Literalmente, Santos Laguna, fué asaltado por los hombres de negro, no confundir con Will Smith y Tommy Lee Jones, sino por el cuerpo arbitral el cual se tragó enteros DOS penales a favor de Santos más claros que el baile que los de la Comarca le estaban metiendo a los hijos de Cruz Treviño y ambos cometidos -adivinaron - por otro de negro, Baloy.
Transcurrió el encuentro y Santos no aprovechó las llegadas que se le presentaron, ya que su portero -fiel a su costumbre de dar el 110% vs Santos- sacó dos casi goles, uno por parte de Vuoso a metralla pura, y otro de Castillo, el cual le reventó directo en la jeta levantando el grito por parte de los aficionados que casi veían caer - aparte de su equipo - la "carita" de su portero
( jajajaja no se porque ando tan mamón, dispensen uds. já! ).
Así pues, Santos se trae un buen resultado siendo que es de visitante, continúa invicto y lo más importante, sigue sumando, en un lugar que aunque digan los de allá, "Santos nos es indiferente" les cala que nuestro equipo esté una vez mas siendo uno de los protagonistas del encuentro, simplemente no soportan la realidad, entre ellos, el anciano decrépito de Hernandez Jr. que fiel a su costumbre, estuvo cocoreando a los nuestros el sábado, resultando en AGRESIONES a nuestros paisanos en las tribunas de los "cosmopolitas" regios, ( durante la transmision radial, mencionaron que al caer el gol del Santos, varios aficionados lo festejaron, ganándose una lluvia de objetos, aún viendo que se encontraba un NIÑO EN BRAZOS, pero ni eso los hizo detenerse. Esa es la mejor aficion? bah! ).

Alguien les debe enseñar que esto sólo es un simple juego de futbol, y nada cambiará si uno u otro pierde, desgraciadamente, muchos de estos animales sin cerebro se dejan llevar por lo que diga la television y mientras Hdz. Jr esté con micrófono en mano, seguirán estas agresiones entre aficiones norteñas, una verdadera lástima que siga en televisión este individuo que sólo lo hace por diversión y por mala leche.

Por lo pronto, chúpense este baile
ni con el árbitro nos ganaron, que feo.

This latest football bog picture was taking by Dutch 100FGC member Joris van de Wier (Squad no.50) on one of his regular groundhopping trips to England, one of the matches he attended took place at Ewen Fields, the home of Hyde United.

This bog is another example of the brick*hit house brand, Joris described it as quite smelly with something growing in the urinal;what the Dutch call 'schimmel', so anyone visiting Ewen Fields can not only see 'The Tigers' in action but also check the progress of whatevers growing inside this football bog.

I’ve been wanted to see Gateshead a lot more away from home this season, as there’s plenty of grounds I’m yet to discover in the other three corners of the Unibond Premier League and naturally I want to give the team my support amongst the fellow soldiers of the Heed Army. The way this seasons fixtures have worked are when Newcastle are at home Gateshead are away, and vice-versa, which is great in one respect, as it means there’s no fixture clashes on Tyneside, which puts a few extra punters through the turnstiles at the International Stadium on a Saturday afternoon, but from a more selfish point of view, this limits my trips to pastures new.
Gateshead have started the season with 5 wins out of 5 and clocked up a tally of 20 goals in the process, the tremendous start is hung-over from the great finish to last season, with the team unbeaten in 17 games stretching back to last March when the Bogieman took over the job after the dismissal of Tony Lee.
A trip to Humberside and a visit to Grange Lane, the home of North Ferriby United, a club which is now playing at the highest level in their history, currently in their third campaign in the Unibond Premier League. Originally formed in 1934 playing in a local league, the club reformed after the Second World War and were admitted to the East Riding Amateur League, until ambition saw them join the Yorkshire League Division Two in 1969, which they successfully won in their second season.
Throughout the following decade the club enjoyed success in winning the East Riding Cup four times as well as the Yorkshire Cup, until the club became one of the founder members of the Northern Counties East League in 1982, which they won in 1985-86.
The biggest day in the clubs history was an appearance at Wembley in the 1996 FA Vase Final, losing out to Whitby Town 3-0 after a great nine game cup run to reach the final, progression was made throughout the ‘90’s and the dawn of the new millennium saw them achieve Unibond League status after becoming NCE Premier Champions and making sufficient ground improvements, the club celebrated their 70th anniversary by winning the Unibond League First Division Championship in 2004-05.
North Ferriby is a civil parish hidden 8 miles west of Hull on the north bank of the Humber, according to the 2001 census the parish has a population of 3,819 and the Grange Lane ground can be found at the bottom of the village off Church Road. The turnstile entrance is in the corner of the ground, with all the facilities, toilets, refreshments, changing rooms and clubhouse all on the nearside. The main spectator’s area is on the opposite side and is a paddock type covered stand which stretches pitch length; this has a central seated area with red flip seats incorporating a small press box flanked by standing areas to each side. Behind each goal are two open hard standing terraces, the mighty Humber Bridge can be seen at one end of the ground while to the other there’s a plot of allotments where I spotted some smashing pumpkins growing through the gap in the fence. The pitch is in imaculate condition with £15,000 being spent to give it that carpet look, all thanks to Hull City who play their reserve matches at Grange Lane.
The first half of the game was one of frustration, the referee is always an easy target if your side is losing, but this ref was diabolical (and I’m being polite) After Gateshead started brightly forcing some good saves from Ferriby keeper Pecora, the home side took a controversial lead on the half hour after centre-half James Curtis was hacked down on the half way line, the referee waved play on and from the consequential attack the home side scored through Andy Hayward netting the rebound after Keen’s initial save.
The home side went in at the break with that slender lead but the half time whistle was greeted with jeers from the travelling support as well as some harsh words from the players and Gateshead manager Ian Bogie, especially after another dodgy decision when the ref failed to give a penalty when Armstrong was clearly tripped in the box as he shaped to shoot.
It could have been one of those nights, when you feel after all your good effort your going to come away empty handed, but I felt if Gateshead were to get an equaliser then they’d win easily, and that’s just what happened, the first meaningful attack of the 2nd half saw Southern burst through the Ferriby defence before being haled down on the edge of the box, while the Heed Army were still trying to get over the shock of winning a free-kick, “Di Di Di Di Di Davy Southern” stepped up to slam in the equaliser. This opened the floodgates and within 5 minutes ‘The Tynesiders’ took the lead when Southern cleverly beat the offside trap before laying the ball on a plate for Hughes to slide home, a bullet header from Steve Salvin made it three and another marvellous performance was rounded off when substitute Ian Robson scored his first goal from the club, showing a great turn of pace before firing in from the edge of the box. So the Heed Army go marching on, now six out of six another four goals to maintain the four goals a game average, the long suffering but humerous Gateshead fans have jokingly sang the same song for years “Grange Hill, it’s just like watching Grange Hill” but if the team keeps on playing the way they are at the moment, it won’t be Grange Hill we’re watching but more like Brazil.

Seadogs on Tour
An accident on the A1 meant our trip to Humberside took longer than expected, Myself, Big Ian and Captain Morgan Stevie finally arrived at the ground at 7.25, the same time as the team coach with the players already kitted out ready for action, but there was also a mini bus of Scarborough supporters also kitted out in matching black t-shirts.
I spoke to several of the ‘Seadogs on Tour’ gang and asked what they were about, they told me that they’re still going to go to the matches together but groundhop to different games every week, they tried going to watch Scarborough Athletic but couldn’t get into it, especially having to travel down to Bridlington, so there love of football will continue but sadly without a team of their own to support.
They have a list of fixture mapped out of games they’ll be attending and I’m looking forward to meeting up with the Seadogs again when they visit Matlock Town for the game against Gateshead.

I’ve become a regular visitor to the Lincolnshire market town of Grantham over the last ten years or so, not only is it the birthplace of former prime sinister Margaret Thatcher (hiss, boo!!!) but also the place of birth of ‘the breadknifes’ Uncle Malcolm (hurray!!!) who many moons ago fell in love and married Geordie lass Ann, living happily ever after in the Lincolnshire countryside. They are frequently visited by their favourite niece and nephew-in-law in search of solace and in the case of the said nephew-type, visiting football grounds within the local vicinity.
The main occasion for our stopover this weekend was a family get together in celebration of Ann’s recent 50th birthday, but with the merriment not due to get under way until 6pm; this gave me a free afternoon to finally check out the local football team; Grantham Town aka The Gingerbreads. [Happy Birthday Ann! x.]
Originally founded in 1874 ‘The Gingerbreads’ began playing at a competitive level from 1925 spanning almost 50 years in the Midland League, the club won their third league title in 1971-72 and decided to try their luck in the Southern League where they enjoyed instant success, winning their third championship title on the spin in the Southern League Division 1 North, winning promotion to the Premier League.
The following season the club just missed out on winning a fourth consecutive title, finishing runners-up to Dartford, their highest finish within the pyramid, that same season was also their best performance in the FA Cup, reaching the majestic third round stage after knocking out Rochdale in the 2nd round, their reward was a home tie against Jack Charlton’s Middlesbrough, giraffe necks team avoid any giant killing however, winning 2-0 in front of a record crowd of 6573 at London Road.
Grantham’s geographical location makes them one of ‘the inbetweenees’ of Non-League football, an apparent target in re-shuffling between northern and southern based leagues, when the club suffered relegation in 1978 they won the league the following season, but due to the formation of the Alliance (Football Conference) the club were placed in the Northern Premier League.
By the mid-1980’s the club were back playing in the Southern League, during this era there were many changes afoot, after the club almost went out of business a new board took over, the club added Town to their name in 1987, and by the end of the decade a new football ground, after initial interest shown in redeveloping London Road, a stadium was built to share with the local athletics club on the Meres playing field, in 1989-90 Grantham Town took residence at the brand new South Kesterven Sports Stadium.
Known locally as “the Mairrres” the stadium has a capacity of 7500, the main East Stand is an attractive looking two tier structure in cream and blue, there’s seats at pitch level as well as a splendid view from the top tier, even though the running track usually takes you further away from the pitch, you still feel your close to the action, the club bar is built into the back of the stand and access can be gained in between the two tiers of blue seats. There are two banks of terracing either side of the stand, with one terrace oddly having eight pairs of seats through the middle, behind each goal are open grass banks which are too far away from the pitch and the west side of the ground there’s a covered terrace which houses the hardcore Gingerbread support.
Grantham last season were truly dreadful, after being re-juggled again into the Northern Premier League, they finished tailed off at the bottom, and relegation has found them part of the restructured Unibond League where they’ve been placed “back darn sarf “in the newly formed Unibond League Division One South, so this meant a first meeting at the Maires between themselves and their opponents from Cheshire Nantwich Town.
The game was an even contest with Grantham just shading it, they took a half time lead with a moochers goal from centre forward Sam Wilkinson and even though Nantwich tried there best to find an equaliser in the second half, the Gingerbreads bully boy tactics saw them take the three points, this was rubber stamped with an injury time goal from Sam Mullarkey to give the home side a 2-0 victory.

I found it hard to concentrate on the game as I was receiving constant text messages from Captain Morgan Stevie (he likes his rum) on the latest news from the International Stadium;Gateshead v Hednesford, my phone was constantly going off and a final score of a 6-2 win to the Heed had me in the mood to do some serious drinking at the evening barbeque, along with a good performance from England, visiting a new ground with a win for the home side in addition of a great night in the company of the breadknifes family, I staggered into my pit at 1.30am content and intoxicated.

Zelada se desgastaba diciendo una y otra vez durante la transmisión, "esto en mis tiempos no pasaba" y es que el "ole, ole, ole" calaba, y gacho, Villa bien pudo haberse ido expulsado, pero el árbitro le perdono la roja, tuvo que salir de cambio y llevarse su amargura a las regaderas.

decían los americanistas en los foros de mediotiempo.
( en los cuales, por cierto, borraron los temas referentes al partido, así o más llorones y patéticos? jajajaja )

Santos por su parte, sólo hizo lo necesario, mencion aparte, la jugada clave del encuentro, Miguel Becerra se creció ante un cabezaso y mandó a tiro de esquina, evitando el 1-1 que hubiese cambiado el rumbo, así como le tiré cuando estuvo con gallos defendiendo a capa y espada su meta, hoy le aplaudo su profesionalismo, la portería albiverde estará muy bien cubierta y Oswaldo puede recuperarse tranquilamente de su lesión.
Ludueña, sr. Hachita, es ud. toda el alma, vida y pasión de este equipo, se le ve feliz aquí, se nota que está disfrutando de sus propias actuaciones, está conectado con la tribuna y concentrado con el equipo, ese madruguete habla de que siempre está al pendiente de lo que sucede en el juego.
Vicente Matías, el "toro" les grito, les bailo, pero sobre todo...
que bonito se vio cuando les besaba su playera santista frente a la banca de las aguilas.

Necesitaba pedirle su opinión para estar seguro de operarse. Y es que si alguien sabe cómo esta ese hombro que tiene lesionado Oswaldo Sánchez, es el Director de los Servicios Médicos del Guadalajara, Rafael Ortega.

De tal forma que el tenor de la plática entre el arquero del Santos y el galeno de Chivas, fue de amigos y con la intensión por parte de Oswaldo, de conocer otro punto de vista.

"Simplemente tuvimos una plática de amigos, él me llamó para pedirme mi opinión y la externé. Le dije que es mejor operación para reforzarle su cápsula articular, la cual en este momento se encuentra ya muy laxa y no le da la estabilidad que él necesita por su posición", señaló Ortega al finalizar la práctica de Chivas este día.

Explicó que "algo que equivale a los meniscos de la rodilla pero en el hombro, se le llama labrum, el cual cuando se rompe, hay que operarlos y cuando no, se tiene buena posibilidad de que con una buena rehabilitación salga, lo cual con él dio resultado antes, tan es así que jugó un Mundial, posteriormente otros tipos de torneos importantes, salió Campeón con Chivas y él cumplió su objetivo", aseguró.

El tiempo de recuperación que llevaría Oswaldo Sánchez, sería, según el diagnóstico del galeno Ortega, "un promedio de 12 semanas, porque es una tercera recaída. Debe operarse, esa es mi idea y llevaría un promedio de 12 semanas para que reaparezca con su equipo y quedará bien, de hecho para mí como paciente sería lo más indicado", finalizó el "Atotonilco".

Santos Laguna fue un solo equipo en la primera parte, se escuchaba que estaban tocando y llegando como en esta temporada se han ido acostumbrando, tiro de esquina, Vilar falla, gol del "Chucho" Benítez, y una nueva ilusion se apoderaba de todos nosotros, transcurría el tiempo, Vuoso la roba, pase, Ludueña...GOL! Atlante 0, Santos 2! puuuts, este arroz ya se cocio, pero no, veeertebras, Gol del Potro al 67 después de VARIAS APROXIMACIONES, y no contábamos con que Santos sin Ludueña, es otro, bueno, si sabíamos, pero había confianza por la victoria ante chivas que sin él podíamos traernos otros 3 puntos, era un tanto lógico el cambio, pues Hachita NO ESTA AL 100, y no se tenía que arriesgar de más, la idea era clara, lógica y peligrosa, echarse a atrás a agüantar a un potro que parecía haberse metido una tacha, una pildora y unos carrujos, en pocas palabras, andaba como loco.
Como dicen, tanto va el cantaro al agua, hasta que se rompe, y eso sucedió, después de una jugada, donde Castillo ya tenía controlado el balón, se confía, y se lo roban, metiendo pase para que David Toledo meta un sendo GOLAZO, venciendo a un Oswaldo que se estiró al máximo y cayendo de forma aparatosa, el resultado? luxacion en el hombro nuevamente, pero que en esta ocasión tenemos a un portero confiable de repuesto, entra Becerra y termina el encuentro en medio de una escandalosa ofensiva azulgrana...

donde king kong o como chingaos se llame, puso una en el travesaño con lo cual nos podríamos haber venido con una derrota SUPER dolorosa y que nos pesara aun más de lo que ya nos estaba pesando el amargo empate a dos.

A final de cuentas, Guzman jugó con el librito en la mano, no resultó en esta ocasión, pero al igual se podrían haber traido una victoria con la que falló Vuoso, o una derrota con la que falló Nkong, entonces, no es del todo malo ni es para que nos rasguemos las vestiduras, lo bueno es que se siguió sumando, Que "ti-gue-res" perdió ( aunque ya es su costumbre) y que los Rayados perdieron también ( estos weyes no tienen nada que ver en el descenso, pero me dió gusto que perdieran por sangrones, anciano Hdz. Jr., sieeeenteseee sr.)
En fin, hay que buscar QUIEN VA A PAGAR LOS PLATOS ROTOS, asi que el próximo domingo hay que -no solo salir a ganar- sino a destrozar a las aguilas del américa para volver a poner nuestro ego en lo más alto de la tabla, junto a nuestro equipo.

This month’s ground image was taking by Nathan Davies, and was featured on his fine football blog ‘Tartan Red On Tour’ when he visited Fir Park the home of Motherwell FC for their SPL clash with Inverness CT in April 2006, the ground is also the temporary home of SPL newcomers Gretna for this season.
