Vaasan Palloseura (Finland)

Vaasan Palloseura are a club from the city of Vaasa who play in the Veikkausliiga - the highest level of Finnish football. They're no relation to the similarly shirted Turun Palloseura, despite the name, because the Palloseura means Town FC! They formed in 1924, and play their home games in the Hietalahti stadium, which holds a trim 4600 bouncy punters.

They've won the top flight twice, although they were both way back in the 1940s, and have finnished runners up a further five times. They also won Finnish Cup in 1972, and twice qualified to play in the UEFA Cup, losing in the second round to Grazer AK from Austria in 1999, and getting knocked out in the first by St Johnstone of Scotland in 2000.

Notable old boys include the current and slightly bonkers Bolton keeper Jussi Jääskeläinen, Albanian international Ansi Agolli, the much travelled one time Torquay and Wolves forward Dean Edwards and Wycombe Wanderers' FA Cup goal legend Roy Essandoh.
